Noah and an Ark...

- Jeevan Babu Olesu

"As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man" - Matthew 24:37-39

For the past one week as we are praying we have seen many places affected by storms especially Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Bangalore in India. People are losing everything: homes, livelihoods, belongings and, most painfully, loved ones. It breaks our hearts. During this time, God's Word also comes to mind. The Bible warns us that the last days will be like this before Jesus comes. While Jesus was talking about His second coming, the disciples asked for the signs of that time. Jesus answered in Matthew 24:37-39 and Luke 17:26-30 that the days would be like those of Noah and Lot. Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21 reveal signs to look for when the time of his second coming is approaching. When we read this we shouldn't be shocked and say, "Wow!" We shouldn't be afraid or troubled in our hearts. We need to know Jesus said such times would come and He tells us to fix our eyes on Him watching as our redemption comes. These floods especially remind me of Noah and his family. The whole world is on one side and Noah and his family stand alone on the other side. Noah walked with God and obeyed His commandments. He followed the directions exactly and built the ark for him, his family, and the animals. He and his families were completely safe and unharmed inside the ark while the whole Earth was under water. Because of his obedience, he and his family were delivered from the destruction. So, my friend, we are living in the last days. Please accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, if you haven't yet received Him. Be like Noah and his family and choose to walk closely with God. God is a good God and he does not want to see anyone lost. He has provided us with an ark which is His Son Jesus Christ. He is not asking us to build an ark, but to receive the free gift of salvation He has given through Jesus. Physical death will come, but when you accept Jesus you will be saved eternally nothing can separate you from His love. You will be with Him forever and ever when you do so. Please come and draw near to Him. Jesus is our ark that can shelter us and take us to safety (Hebrews 7:24-25; Acts 4:12). This image is what I designed to show this story of Noah. Noah was so safe inside the ark though  it rained for forty days and forty nights and everything was flooded outside for 150 days (Genesis 7:1; 8:6; 7:24; 8:3) .
