A Home for children
Working in the remote villages, we have seen the great need of many children to have a stable home, good food, and an education both for their spirit and for their mind. God has laid on our hearts a vision of a children’s home and school that would meet these needs. We are praying and believing that we will have a children’s home opened by June of 2017. We are planning on starting with 50 children. To begin with we will rent a building that will function as the home for the children. In the evenings they will have tutoring, time to work on homework, lessons about the Bible, and group prayer time before bed. In the mornings they will have prayer and chapel time before they go to school. During the school week, chapel will be thirty minutes: fifteen minutes for praise and worship and fifteen minutes for the message. They will have daily memory verses to learn. They will hear about God through His Word and also experience His love in action through a loving and supportive environment. Eventually, we would like to buy land and build a children’s home and school so the children can receive a high quality education right on campus. For now, we will begin by providing a safe home and healthy food for them and take them to the local government school. For start up costs we realized we will need to buy beds, bed sheets, tables, chairs, cooking vessels and utensils, plates, cups, gas stoves, pillows, clothing, shoes, school supplies, towels, and hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, washcloths, towels, etc). In Odisha, there are certain tribes of people called the Bonda people that only bathe once a year. There are whole villages of Bonda people that are uneducated about cooking food, washing clothes, and healthy habits. They are not welcoming of the Gospel, but by educating, feeding, and showing God’s love to the children we know we will see amazing changes in the future for the glory of God.
